Letter to President Lam

April 16, 2016

President Lam,
Thank you so very much for your letter!
The most important thing about myself: I love the gospel. I love my family and church leaders. I have wanted to serve a mission since I was twelve and I sincerely wanted to learn a language on my mission. I am very excited to learn Cantonese! I cannot wait to get to the MTC and learn as much Cantonese as I can.

I have six younger siblings, whom I absolutely adore. I have one sister who was adopted from China (Hunan province) and so I feel a connection to and appreciation for the Chinese culture.

I love to dance, write, travel and play the flute. I took three years of French in high school. I am currently at Utah Valley University studying ballet. I want to teach ballet, and write and illustrate children’s books when I grow up. I also want to teach Art History in a high school.

I think about my future investigators often and am eager to get into the field and work. I know that we are all sons and daughters of God. I feel incredibly blessed to be able to share this knowledge, and my testimony, with my brothers and sisters. I know that the gospel of Jesus Christ can change and heal lives. I know that the Book of Mormon is another testament of Jesus Christ. The Book of Mormon is crucial for a personal relationship with the Savior, and for an enduring conviction of gospel truths. I know that the Spirit is the ultimate teacher, and I am only an instrument. My mission scripture is Alma 29:9.
I look forward to meeting you in Hong Kong and working with you in fighting for the salvation of souls.
Sincerely,
Sister Golda Cristine Dopp
